The Mission

Let me tell you a story that happened only one month ago. It started in London the war was on involving a 15 year old girl called Margaret Driver and her little 12 year old brother Toby. Margaret was a shy girl but she was a technology genius and Toby liked reading books and writing letters. Margaret had brunette hair with blond streaks through it. Her eyes shone like the sun glittering across the sea. Toby had strawberry blond hair and eyes that looked like an oak tree.

Margaret and Toby’s Dad went to war and he sadly passed away. At night he was on lookout and a bomb was dropped on him. The night Margaret and Toby found out was at 10pm it was very windy outside their bedroom window. The room was airy and cold as they opened a letter. It was from Trever their father's friend who was also in the Navy. It told them what happened.

The next bad thing happened in the morning, as they were having their breakfast. Their Mother said that she couldn't cope with them because they both looked like their Dad. She told them it was to hard for her every time looking at her kids and seeing her husband's face. So she took them to an orphanage and said that she found them in a car that had skidded off the road and the parents were killed. Margaret and Toby  felt scared, sad, confused and betrayed.

Two weeks later they got vary used to it and they made their own timetable. Every night at midnight when everyone including the mean lady Miss Crals who owned the orphanage were sleeping. They would go into Miss Crals private lounge. Toby would read old newspaper articles and Margaret watched tapes on the projector. One morning miss Crals woke them up early. Miss Crals took them into her lounge. She said that she worked as a government spy and wanted them to join.

If they did Margaret would receive $1000  for the both of them each ! So of course they took the detail. 11.32pm That night Miss Crals took them to headquarters. Margaret and Toby got their first mission. It was to find out if their father was still alive and where he was because he used to work as a government spy before the war. Miss Crals told them the mission started 6.00pm in the morning. So first thing in the morning they got ready and set off. Margaret went to the library to look stuff up on the computer. Toby was writing to Trevor and asked where their Dad was taken after the so called bomb was dropped. Margaret and Toby headed towards the cemetery. Behind the gravestone with their fathers name on it, was a note. It was from their Dad. It said, “Margaret and Toby, my dear children, if you are reading this you must be looking for me. I am in hiding , but I can’t tell you where I am.”
Feeling excited and scared they set off wondering if their father wanted them. Margaret went back to the library and researched on the computers what type of places do people live in when they're in hiding. 10 Minutes later they went to this house. It’s windows were boarded up like every other house in town because it was war time. But it was the only house without a boarded up door. So they went in. There was only two things in the house, a table and underneath it was a rug. Toby pushed the table over in anger of not finding their Dad. Then he threw the rug. Under the rug was a trap door. Margaret pushed Toby aside and opened it. There was a staircase leading down. Margaret switched on the light and went down. At the bottom she saw one of the wooden planks on the floor lift up and out climbed their Dad.

 Dear Community Trust

Otama school deserves a new playground I think our school deserves a new playground because we are a small school of 21 and we don’t have enough money to buy our own one. Another reason we deserve the money for a new playground is we are a small school, but we still have kids in it and it would make them very happy to have a new one.

Our playground is very old and might not be safe. We won’t have to worry about health and safety with a new one. A new bright and safe playground would make the school more fun. It’s not fun breaking bones on something that isn't safe or stable though.

A new playground would make more kids want to play on it. Therefore the kids would get more exercise. Children from other schools might drive past and want to come to our school. Exercise is a great thing, if we had no playground we would not get as much exercise as we could.

I hope this will make you give us money for a new playground.

Yours sincerely
 Nicole McBain
